Show Recap – Ireland’s Four Provinces

December 11, 2024

On a chilling December 6, 2024 night, the Pocket Threes played a 90 minute set in sub 30 degree weather at the 9th annual Falls Church Tree Festival hosted at Ireland’s Four Provinces. This was the second year in a row that Pocket Threes was fortunate enough to play at the event. The night was filled with classic rock anthems and festive favorites.

After starting 30 minutes late due to power issues, Pocket Threes opened up with “Jingle Bell Rock,” a classic holiday tune that kicked off the evening in a holiday spirit. The trio then went into some of their regular covers including “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Take It Easy,” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

Following another holiday rock favorite of “Run Run Rudolph,” the band played two live debut covers of “Who Are You” and “Mr. Brightside.” Both were received well by the crowd and kept the energy going. They then followed by treating the crowd to a sing-along of the classic “Sweet Caroline,” bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.

The group then debuted another holiday tune of “Feliz Navidad,” followed by “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” which featured Colin on lead vocals. The guys then transitioned into the heavy hitters part of the setlist by playing classics that included “La Grange,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Hotel California.” A highlight from these songs was “Rocky Mountain Way,” which featured Andreas’ versatile slide guitar skills.

Following another Christmas song of “Carol of the Bells,” the band went into the final five songs of some of their most impressive covers. “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Sweet Child of Mine,” and “Dancing in the Dark” all had the crowd on their feet asking for more. What followed was a shortened version (due to time constraints) of the classic Free Bird – the first time Pocket Threes has played the anthem since August and featured an incredible outro guitar solo by Andreas. As always, the band finished with high-energy closing song of “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”

Despite a delayed start due to technical difficulties—where the band accidentally overloaded the power sockets—the night was an unforgettable celebration of classic rock, holiday spirit, and exceptional musicianship. Fans in attendance were treated to an expertly crafted setlist that spanned generations of rock anthems, with impressive jams and stellar performances from every member.
